I had the honor of attending a phenomenal event in Washington, D.C., on Sunday!
UW-Eau Claire's Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, performed as the featured choir at the National Presidents Day Choral Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The Concert Choir's performance honored the life and service of President John F. Kennedy. Dr. Schwartzhoff, the artistic director for the festival, conducted a mass choir involving more than 300 musicians from five states.
Among Sunday's featured performances was the world-premiere of "Let The Word Go Forth," a composition by former UW-Eau Claire music faculty member Dr. Ethan Wickman.
Our students also performed Saturday at St. Matthew's Cathedral, the site of President Kennedy's funeral mass.
It was an honor to be with our students and Dr. Schwartzhoff as they made the most of this thrilling opportunity to perform at the prestigious Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and to be part of the events that honored our nation's 35th President.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this exceptional performance. Thank you for representing UW-Eau Claire so well on a national stage!
