Be Bold 2 economic development summit on campus Wednesday

This week UW-Eau Claire will host a Be Bold 2 economic development summit , the second in an economic summit series organized by Competitive Wisconsin.

The summit, to be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Davies Center, will focus on the role of information and technology in workforce development. It will bring together education, business, government and opinion leaders from throughout Wisconsin.

During the summit, I will be part of a panel discussion around the topics of developing talent and education with technology.  Other panelists will include the chancellors from UW-Stout and UW-River Falls, the head of the Chippewa Valley Technical Center, the superintendent of the Eau Claire public school system and the Department of Public Instruction state superintendent.

I'm looking forward to the discussions around education's role in developing the talent that our state needs to stay competitive and move ahead.

I'm  very pleased that this BE BOLD 2 summit will be held on our campus. Our campus, like other campuses across the state, is a talent incubator that produces the leaders, innovators and experts, that will keep Wisconsin ahead, and can enhance our state's economic competitiveness. It is is fitting that conversations around these topics take place in the heart of our campus.

I look forward to sharing with you highlights from what I am sure will be a series of interesting and engaging discussions on Wednesday!
