| Interim Chancellor Gilles Bousquet delivered a welcome greeting to UW-Eau Claire alumni at the first-ever alumni event in Hong Kong on Thursday night. Seventeen alumni, all of whom now live in Hong Kong, attended the dinner event which culminated in the creation of a Hong Kong UW-Eau Claire alumni chapter. |
The highlight on Thursday was the alumni event for a couple of reasons. It was a historic event because this was the first one and also because, out of the enthusiasm of the group, a president-elect of the new Hong Kong alumni chapter was selected: Joey Yeung, a Hong Kong native who graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1992 with a degree in management information systems. He was able to unite both the older and newer alumni, and he’ll be a great leader for this exciting new chapter.
My goal for today is to continue to work with potential university partners as well as meet with a couple of alumni. I’d also like to take some time to assess what we’ve seen and done here and look at future steps here in Hong Kong, which will probably include a study abroad program here for UW-Eau Claire students. It’s been a very intense but successful day.
